According to an article published in the American Journal of Cardiology, wheezing could increase your risk of heart disease.

The study examined 8,600 adults aged 20 or older participating in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.  Eighteen percent of adults reported wheezing during the study period and heart disease was reported in 6% of all adults and 18% of wheezers. Wheezing increased risk of heart disease 2.5 times over those that did not have allergies. One of the authors hypothesized that the link might possibly be the inflammation caused by asthma.

The authors strongly point out that this does not mean asthma causes heart disease and that much more study is needed.
