Have you ever had your asthma symptoms worsen when staying in a hotel room? You may have some relief if you need to travel to the San Francisco area.
The Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport hotel announced last week that it was introducing 20 hypo-allergenic rooms for guests with asthma and allergies. According to their press release, the "Respire By Hyatt Hypo-Allergenic Rooms" will eliminate up to 98% of airborne viruses and bacteria, pollen, and other indoor air pollutants.
"Respire by Hyatt rooms set a new standard for service that we are proud to offer our guests. We are delighted to be able to create a unique clean air environment without sacrificing guest comfort," said general manager Scott VandenBerg.
Each room is comprehensively treated to minimize exposure to potential triggers. According to Hyatt, air in Respire by Hyatt rooms on average is ten times more pure than outside air due to lower particulate counts. Measures to decrease indoor air pollution and triggers include:
- Minimizing allergens and irritants for all surfaces and fabrics.
- All mattresses and pillows are encased in a protective hypo-allergenic covering.
- Air in the room is continuously circulated through a medical grade purifier, filtering out up to 99 percent of impurities.
- Room is maintained and re-certified every six months.
What do you think? Would you be more likely to stay in a room that was designed with your asthma in mind? Have you ever heard about a company doing this before? Why not leave a comment or go to the Forum and join the discussion.
