If you are not an asthmatic you may not know what it feels like to have your breathing impaired. Or you may want to be able to let others know what it is like to have asthma. Dr. Raoul Wolf, Director of Allergy and Immunology at the University of Chicago Hospital provides this video on how to better understand what it feels like to breathe with asthma.
What do you think-- does Dr. Wolf's accurately describe what asthma is like? Can you describe it better? Leave a comment or go to forum to join the discussion

The analogy of trying to breathe quickly through a thin straw is apt, but it doesn’t mention the fear that seeps in as breathing continues to be difficult. It also doesn’t mention anything of how it feels to have had to take your emergency puffer – I dislike the shakes and body-panic feel, but I’ll take it over the not-breathing. Still, it’s a good beginning.
dont forget that you’ll also have that feeling of burning lungs and constantly trying to cough up something that’s not there. also, hearing the wheezing adds to the fear as well.
It will help if you start to breath slowly, shallow breathing and try to relax as much as you can. Breathing deeply and gasping for air will bring more spasm in your breathing muscles and make it worse.
As long term therapy you can try in-home salt therapy devices that I found is helping my family a lot!
