Definition: Sublingual immunotherapy, or SLIT for short, is the medical term for what are commonly known as allergy drops. Allergy drops or allergy tablets are sometimes used as an alternative allergic asthma treatment.

SLIT is widely used in Europe, but has not yet been approved by the FDA for use in the United States. People who have allergic asthma sometimes prefer sublingual immunotherapy because they think it offers greater convenience than allergy shots.
