Question: Why Should I Use a Metered Dose Inhaler?

Answer: The most important reason to use any prescribed asthma medicine, including the one administered through an MDI, is because doing so will enable you to achieve asthma control, so that asthma symptoms do not interfere with your quality of life.

Here are a few specific benefits of MDIs, however:

  1. Metered dose inhalers are small in size, so they're easy to carry with you wherever you go. That means you're more likely to take them when you need them and to take them on schedule.

  2. MDIs are also efficient at delivering the right amount of medicine – provided you use them correctly.

  3. Finally, metered dose inhalers are convenient, because you can use them almost anywhere and they take less than a minute to use, but provide effective relief from asthma symptoms and asthma attacks.
