Have You had Lung Function Testing?

Monday April 13, 2009
While 7 in 10 physicians report obtaining lung function tests on their patients in the last year, less than 2 in 10 patients admit that they have had the test. Its not popular to know your #s off a spirometry report vs. Cholestrol screening, blood pressure or now a1c for diabetes.I have had the test and didn’t realize since the focus is more on wether I need to change my meds or not.

I think knowing the percentage of normal might be helpful (e.g. my FEV1 was 75% of what it should have been). If your numbers are below normal you need to know so that you can make changes.
