With schools being back in session and all of the press regarding swine flu, many people are worried about the beginning of the flu season. The Centers for Disease Control offers these everyday tips to help protect your health:
- Use tissue to cover your nose and mouth if you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue away and do not reuse.
- Either frequently wash your hands with soap and water or use acohol-based hand cleaners. This is especially important after coughing or sneezing.
- Try to, as much as possible, not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth. If you do make sure you follow the previous point about hand washing. Consider this, you shake some one's hand and then touch your nose or eyes-- you have just potentially spread that person's germs to you.
- Avoid close contact with sick people.
- If you are sick with flu-like illness, the CDC recommends that you or your children stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone (without the use of any fever-reducing medication) except for seeing your doctor or for other necessities.
- Staying away from others as much as possible will help prevent others sick.

I think that the phrase
“Try to, as much as possible, touch your eyes, nose or mouth.”
is incorrect, as the proper way to avoid the flu is NOT touch these parts.
