Asthma is a serious medical condition that can make the struggle of being an teenager even harder. Siblings of patients with asthma sometimes don't know what to do or say and have feelings that can make supporting a brother or sister with asthma seem like a struggle. The Starlight Children's Foundation created Starbright WorldŽ, an online social network exclusively for sick teens and their siblings.
At the site, teens and their siblings can connect other asthma patients that are going through similar experiences. They can discuss issues related to their asthma and everyday life that might not get to normally get to discuss or feel like their regular friends will not understand because they do not have asthma. Teen's also get to express themselves through their personal profiles and share their favorite movies, music, and videoes like other social networking sites. Additionally, their are also games members can play and compete with others such as Battleship, Connect Four, Mankala and single-player games such as Sandwich Shop and Gem Swap. Finally, you can share videos on the site just like you would on You Tube.

Starbright world is the most amazing website ever. I have made some friends that will last forever.
I have been a member of Starbright World for about a year now. I heard about Starbright World from one of my doctors. SBW has been an amazing part of my life. I’m able to connect with other teens that are going through the same things as me. Unlike with most of the friends I have, everyone on SBW understands what I’m going through and are very supportive. I don’t know what I would do without Starbright World.
I found Starbright World as a teen, and it helped me so much as a teen with chronic illness. Having asthma as one of my illnesses, finding someone to understand in the outside world is really hard. But having Starbright World, it’s so easy, because everyone there understands. Now 22, I find myself volunteering for Starbright World, and helping the teens and lending an ear when needed. I thank God for the organizations like Starlight Children’s Foundation, and the programs they create like Starbright World. In Starbright World, you can forget about your illness, for just a little bit, and be a regular kid. It really is amazing.
Pat thank you so much for your support of Starbright. This is an amazing organization with a beautiful mission. These children need our support more than ever.
I have been a member of Starbright World for over 3 years now. It showed me a life outside of being sick. I thought I was the only one, and i had it worse than anyone. After joining SBW I realized that there were teens worse than me, and It allowed me to open my eyes to the many possibilities that i have despite having a chronic condition. Not only can you open up about your illness to people who understand what you’re going through, but you can talk about average every day stuff as well. I have made life long friends on Starbright World and I wouldn’t trade them for the world! I guess my IBD has been a blessing in disguise!
