Controller Medicines

Definition: Controller medicines are asthma medicines you take once or twice a day every day (as prescribed) to control and prevent asthma symptoms.

Controller medicines come in a variety of formats, but inhaled steroids are the most effective type. Other types include:

Also Known As: long-term medicines, preventive asthma medicines
Examples: Common examples are Budesonide, Advair, Xolair, Serevent, and Singulair.
