Hold Your Breath and Count to 10

This next step is designed to get the medicine as deeply as possible into your airways, so you can get maximum benefit from every dose.

Once you have finished breathing in deeply through the spacer and metered dose inhaler, hold your breath as long as you can. Ideally, you'll be able to hold your breath for a count of 10. If that's not possible, though, just hold it as long as you can without getting anxious.
